April 1 - The Mercury-Viatel Cycling Team is pleased to announce that Greg LeMond will make his return to the sport as a rider for the team. His main ambition is a 4th Tour de France title.
According to the AFP, LeMond has been secretly training in Hawaii for his return, The only race that he will participate in is the Tour. This revelation stunned many observers who thought the LeMond was through. LeMond retired in 1991 with a blood/muscle condition that has deteriorated over time. LeMond recently underwent tests at the request of Team Director John Wordin. What doctors found was amazing. LeMond condition was actually reversed. What doctors are calling the "Ponce De Leon effect" LeMond's muscles are actually regenerating. His iron counts are good and he tires less frequently. Doctors are quoted as saying his tests have been very positive.
LeMond is highly motivated by the teams early season results, with the news of his condition improving, he feels like he can win a 4th Tour.
